Peconic Bay is Full of Life

The action has been good in the Shinnecock canal with a good amount of fluke of mixed sizes with some keepers as well. They are falling for the regular squid, spearing and gulp. The weakfish have all but moved out to the Peconics with the big bluefish on their tails. Some bluefish have been in the inlet and taking spoons. Fluke action still quiet in Shinny but a few have been found up in the Quogue canal along with a few weakfish.

Peconic bay is full of life right now as it is most springs. The weaks have settled in the holes of the Peconic bay and are being caught by those targeting porgies out around Jessups Neck and Rogers rock. The porgy action is good in most of the spring spots in Peconic bay with clam and worms working with some clam chum to get them under the boat. No word on the fluke action at the Greenlawns around Shelter Island. Good reports of striped bass action in the rips around Shelter Island with mostly schoolies being caught. The bluefish are on the move and can be found chasing bait throughout the bay. Heard of some squid in our bays too. The local ocean beaches have seen a few schoolie bass and bluefish taking rubber baits and bucktails.
