Shinnecock

The fluke bite has improved dramatically in the last week as the water temps have risen over the 60 degree mark and held. Fluke have been caught on both incoming and outgoing tides and in both the eastern and western parts of the bay. The keeper to short ratio is better than last season for sure. The squid/spearing combo is working as is the gulp baits. The blues are still hanging tough in the inlet and taking jigs and drifted baits for striped bass. The bass bite is slowly improving with some drifted live baits. The clam chumming at the bridge has only produced schoolies.

Peconic

The porgies are still out around Robins Island and Jessups Neck. Most are being taken on clam baits with chum to lure them under the boat. Weakfish are taking some jigs and drifted hi-lo rigs with squid or worms. The weakfish are mixed with the porgies and in some of the deeper holes off Long Beach. Some fluke reports have also come in from the north side of Shelter Island off Greenport.

Shorebound

The Shinnecock Canal is holding porgies to the north and some fluke, blowfish and cocktail blues to the south. The Ponquogue Bridge has seen a few nice fluke being caught as well as some striped bass on the night tides. Over at the Shinnecock Inlet the bluefish continue to cooperate and are taking most all tins. The striped bass are taking bucktails on the night tides.
