Spring Has Sprung!!!

We made it through another winter and now its time to go fishing. The days are longer and the water temps are coming up. The back bays and creeks of both Shinnecock and Peconic bays are showing plenty of life. We have huge amounts of bunker and a good amount of spearing too. The schoolie bass are lurking and are taking slow moving rubber baits retrieved just off the bottom. A few weakfish have been spotted and are falling for the same. Not much news on the spring blackfish season that closes next week. Two weeks till fluke opens on May 4th and we have heard of a few shorts coming from the Shinnecock canal. Porgies should be moving into the deep water spots of Peconic bay as I'm writing this and the season is open year round now.
